SOAK Academy — Module 05
MODULE 05 · SCHEDULE & ROSTERING

Know your shift. Check it properly. Plan ahead.

Your roster can change with the needs of the salon. This module covers how to check your schedule, understand Fill Last blocks, take breaks, submit timesheets and request leave.

CASUAL EMPLOYMENT

Flexibility works both ways.

As a casual employee, your hours are not guaranteed and may vary from week to week. Your roster is based on the needs of the salon, which naturally change over time.

During busier periods there may be more opportunities for additional hours. During quieter times, hours may be lighter.

We do our best to balance rosters fairly and communicate changes as clearly as possible.

If you ever have questions or concerns, refer to the Support module to see who to contact.

CHECKING YOUR SCHEDULE

Zenoti is your source of truth.

Don't rely on memory, screenshots or what someone told you earlier in the week. Check Zenoti.

02

Find your name

Your appointments and white time show when you're working.

What your schedule looks like

Use your live Zenoti schedule to confirm which days you're working, your appointments and the time your shift begins.

IMPORTANT · 6PM THE DAY BEFORE

Your start time can change up until 6pm.

Your shift is only confirmed at 6pm the day before. Always check Zenoti after this time so you know your confirmed start time for the next day.

BREAKS · CASUAL EMPLOYEES

What you're entitled to.

Breaks are scheduled by the salon to maintain service flow. A specific break time is not guaranteed.
5+ hrs

Lunch Break

1 unpaid lunch break of 45–60 minutes.

7+ hrs

Paid Rest Breaks

2 paid rest breaks of 10 minutes each.

Your lunch break will appear in your Zenoti schedule as Lunch Unbk. This is reserved time and helps the salon manage bookings around your break.

“FILL LAST” TIME BLOCKS

These blocks are there to manage bookings.

  • “Fill Last” blocks cannot be moved unless by a Salon Coordinator or Management.
  • A “Fill Last” block in a future shift does not mean your start time is fixed.
  • Shifts are only confirmed at 6pm the day before.
  • A “Fill Last” block at the end of the day is not your finish time.
  • You may be required to support other team members, cover FOH or complete closing tasks.

Do not leave without approval from the Salon Coordinator.

TIMESHEETS & PAY

Employment Hero.

Submitting your timesheet correctly and on time helps make sure payroll runs smoothly.

Timesheets

  • Submit your timesheet by Sunday 6pm to get paid on time.
  • You are paid weekly on Thursdays.
  • Check your payslip each week.

If something looks wrong

Human error can occasionally happen. If something on your payslip doesn't look right, let Valerie know immediately.

LEAVE REQUESTS

Plan ahead.

Leave approval depends on availability and business needs.

Minimum notice

Submit leave in Employment Hero a minimum of 4 weeks before the dates you need off.

November & December

Limited leave is permitted during November and December. These are our busiest months and summer requires all hands on deck to support the team and our clients.

THE TAKEAWAY

Your roster is something you actively manage.

Check Zenoti, confirm your shift after 6pm, understand your blocks and breaks, submit your timesheet on time and plan leave early.
